Marari is a set of boutique serviced and cottages on Marari Beach in central Kerala. Beach and pool includes traditional Kerala heritage houses and contemporary cottages with facilities such as private beach, personal chef, butler / villa host etc. Located on the beach at Marari, within a whisper of the sea, these boutique offer a rare combination of luxury, personal service and private space.

Marari are set under coconut palms on Marari beach, close to Mararikulam and Alleppey in Kerala, southern India. They are 15km from Alleppey and 50km from Cochin.

Marrai Vilas comprises 5 individual villas categorised as :

Lotus : This is a 2 bedroom beachfront villa in a traditional Kerala style with antique furniture. The villa comes with a private lounge/dining room, verandas and front and rear gardens with hammocks, sunbeds and umbrellas. Lotus Villa is serviced by a Villa Host, Housekeeper and Caretaker/Security.

Bougainvillea : Bougainvillea is a 2 bedroom beach front villa offering stunning panoramic sea views from all rooms, direct access to the beach, private courtyard garden with sun loungers, outdoor dining, day bed and ayurveda massage area. There is a large lounge incorporating a bar, dining tables, lounge furniture, TV/DVD and games area . The villa has a team of wonderful staff to look after your every need.

Palm : This is a stunning 3 bedroom villa, located just meters from the Arabian Sea, with a private sandy beach garden. The villa design blends traditional and contemporary styles with a large open ‘seabreeze lounge’ with a bar, dining and lounge furniture. Three sea view bedrooms open onto a private veranda and garden, equipped with hammocks, sunbeds and umbrellas.

Hibiscus : This is a 100 year old traditional Keralan wooden house that has been restored with loving care to provide a real sense of Keralan life. The cottage has a cool oxide floor and is well furnished with a kingsize bed, desk, library and TV/DVD. There’s a semi open-air bathroom with a rain shower and a kitchenette with space for 2 extra beds for children. Glass doors open onto a dining terrace and, beyond, a beautiful walled garden with private pool, surrounded by an abundance of tropical plants.

Orchid : This is a charming 1 bedroom cottage within 3 minutes walk of one of the most beautiful parts of Marari, where the backwaters meet the sea. The cottage is built in a contemporary style with white walls, a thatched roof and large french doors that open to the private pool and a small tropical garden.

Dining

All the have an experienced chef on site who can prepare traditional Keralan food, as well as continental options, according to the guest’s requirements. Specialties are local Keralan cuisine, and they can cater for continental palates also. Many of the dishes are a fusion of both.Fresh produce from the local markets is purchased every day.

Once per week the chef prepares traditional Keralan 'Sadhya Feast' served on a banana leaf and on Sunday, a delicious BBQ dinner with seafood or chicken marinated in fragrant Kerala spices is served.

EXPERIENCES

The main experience at Marrari is leisure and relaxation by the beach. A private area reserved for the ’ guests is furnished with sunbeds, parasols, hammocks, a shower, a shelter and a full-time attendant.

The guest can borrow a bicycle to explore the nearby beaches and village backroads of Mararikulam.

Among various tailor-made activities, staff can organize Keralan cooking classes in an outdoor kitchen, visits to a local market, elephant rides, dance lessons, visits to spas and Ayurvedic treatments centres, and personal yoga sessions with a local teacher.
