Located in the picturesque but little-visited Phobjikha Valley near the village of Gangtey, the Amankora Gangtey is set on a forested knoll with sweeping views of the broad valley and the 16th-century Gangtey Goemba (monastery). Phobjikha is one of Bhutan’s few glacial valleys and is a designated conservation area, as the winter home of the endangered black-necked crane.
The Amankora Gangtey has eight Suites that are identical to those of Amankora Thimphu, providing an open-plan living and bedroom area with views across the valley. The interior features a King size Bed, a reading chair and a traditional bukhari positioned between the bedroom and the bathroom.
The Dining Room, the restaurant at Amankora Gangtey serves Western and Bhutanese cuisine. The Dining Room features cosy chairs, sofas and family-style dining tables, all looking out through floor-to-ceiling windows over the valley and surrounding mountains.
The Amankora Gangtey offers experiences including visits to the massive Gangtey Goemba Nature Walk and Treks in the Phobjikha Valley , one of Bhutan’s most important wildlife sanctuaries is also offered by the resort.
The resort offers a Spa consisting of two massage treatment rooms and changing areas on the lodge’s ground floor. The signature spa treatment at Amankora Gangtey is a Foot reflexology in which a specific pressure is applied to points on the feet, which stimulates self healing. This signature treatment is recommended after a long hike and designed to maintain a balance between mind and body by optimizing the blood circulation and energy flow, strengthening the immune system and promoting wellbeing.
