Madulkelle Tea and Eco Lodge is nestled on a picturesque tea plantation, on the Knuckles Mountain Range 1000 meters above sea level. It offers magnificent views, top class facilities, friendly and courteous service and plenty of things to see and do.


Accommodation

Wake up every morning to sounds of birds chirping outside your room and open your front door to one of the most breathtaking views imaginable - mist covered mountains, lush green valleys, crystal clear streams and even the occasional deer or giant squirrel.

The Madulkelle Tea and Eco Lodge offer secluded lodges with comfortable amenities.


Deluxe : The deluxe lodge opens up to a front porch with ‘out-of-this-world’ views and comfortable bed is provided to enjoy that view.

Honeymoon Suite : Honeymoon Suite is situated among the lush green tea field with the magnificent view of Knuckles Mountain range. It has a terrace with divan and private dining facility.


DINING

It has a Grand Dining Room and Restaurant with a cozy fireplace along with an English styled estate Lounge Bar with an impressive stock of beverages. The lodge has its own Organic vegetable and herb garden which yields fresh vegetables and herbs all year round that helps the Chef to prepare fresh and delicious meals daily.


EXPERIENCES

  • Yoga: Madulkelle offers Yoga asana ( postures ) classes in English for beginners, intermediate or even long standing practitioners. Also on offer is an insight to Yogic breathing – Pranayama, introduction of various Bhuddhist Meditation techniques & Philosophy. The duration of each class is an hour and a half. It can be tailor made to suit one's requirement. Detox programmes & Yoga retreats in house either for a day or for a longer duration are also available.
  • Spa: Set right on the middle of tea plantation, the spa offers four uniquely designed couple's treatment in the secluded treatment tent pavilions.
  • Excursions: Below stated are some of the excurions that can be organised:
    • Kandy city: Kandy is nestled picturesquely surrounded by mountains and rivers just 30 km away from the Madulkelle Tea and Eco Lodge.
    • Dambulla and Sigiriya: The historic city of Dambulla is just a 2 hour drive away from the Madulkelle Tea and Eco Lodge. A 3 hour drive from the Madullkelle Tea and Eco Lodge will take you to Sigiriya or the Lion Rock which is considered by many as the 8th wonder of the ancient world.
    • Tea Plantation/Factory Visit: This is an opportunity to explore how the tea leaves plucked by the female estate workers are sorted and processed into making Sri Lanka’s favourite beverage.
    • Hiking and Trekking: It is an absolute paradise for trekkers and hikers. One can trek through quaint little trails winding across crystal clear streams, gorgeous waterfalls, the dense forests and even terraced paddy fields, while enjoying the coolness and fresh air of the Sri Lankan countryside.
    • Bird Watching: The Knuckles Mountain range is a truly unique ecosystem compared to the rest of Sri Lanka’s central hills. More than 120 bird species have been sighted here including endemic species such as the Yellow-Fronted Barbet, Dusky-Blue Flycatcher, Ceylon Lorikeet, Ceylon Grackle, Yellow-Eared Bulbul and Layard's Parakeet.
    • Camping Safari: Spend a night camping and roughing it out on the mountains. The expert tracker will accompany you and help you find the best camping sites. If you’re an outdoors/ off-the beaten-track person, then this is a fantastic option to try out and get up close and personal with nature.
    • Wildlife: From the rare white sambhur to the barking deer, mouse deer and the giant squirrel to the more star attractions such as Elephants and Leopards, the Knuckles Range offer plenty for the wildlife buff. In addition to this, thousands of unique and diverse species of fauna and flora are also available here.
